The Freedom of Only Having House Debt
Posted on April 12th, 2008 by Will Work for Cheesecake!!!Should you focus on your retirement or paying off your house? I have only one answer focus on retirement. Don’t worry about paying off your house; your retirement is way more important. You probably know what going on with housing right now. Banks have been hit very hard from the sub-prime mess. When banks get greedy, their stocks fall badly.
What will you have to show if you pay off your house at 50? You could tell me it my house that I got to show. I would have to tell you if you don’t focus on your retirement now, then it going to be very hard for you to catch up. The sooner you start the better you are in the long run.

I have seen many people that make close to $60,000 or more living without a retirement plan. Do I feel sad for them? Not really they have a choice, I can’t force people to do what they don’t want.
People will always have different opinions. I just know that I will be comfortable with my nest egg when I retire. Will people be jealous of me? Of course they will, they can be wealthy also when they get old but they choose not too when they were young.
Final Thought
If you don’t start your retirement as soon as possible, then it going to be very hard for you to catch up as years goes bye. If you 18 years old, then you have an advantage because you have 42 years to contribute to your ROTH IRA. When people say time is money, setting retirement account is no different.

Fantastic read. I wish I had a house, or any sort of retirement. Right now I’m working on paying off my credit cards :\ Thats what I get for being young and naive.
